In 2017 Venezuelan banks were obliged to continue to comply with mandates to provide five loan portfolios as defined by the government, including the agricultural portfolio created in 1999, the microloan portfolio in 2001, the mortgage portfolio, the tourism portfolio created in 2005, and finally the manufacturing portfolio created in 2008.
