International Construction: Disputes and Resolution

It is both timely and apt that this ebook has as its focus conflict and dispute resolution in international construction. Generally construction represents between 7-12% of a country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in any one year. What happens in construction can have a colossal effect on the social and economic well-being (or otherwise) of individual countries around the world. Although it is difficult to estimate a precise figure commentators have hypothesized that construction conflict and disputes can account for 1-2% of any construction company’s turnover. Whilst it is difficult to quantify in money terms the exact cost of conflict and disputes in the global construction environment what is beyond doubt is that conflict and disputes consume a colossal amount of valuable resources in terms of time and money.
