U.S. solar panel sales are estimated to have increased by one-third in 2014 after suffering a decline in 2013. Despite these mixed results, solar panel sales were more than five times the levels seen as recent as 2009. The surge in demand over the past five years has been primarily satisfied by foreign-sourced products. Foreign-sourced products are price competitive and have made solar power more competitive in residential and nonresidential markets.
