The recession reduced the flow of foreign currency to the country and imports which affected the beer market.
Mainstream beer was responsible for all consumption declines.
Higher profitability made the manufacturers focus on the premium and super premium segments, which performed well in 2015, and grew 1% and 5% respectively.
High prices of imported raw materials damaged the production.
Innovation during the year was non-existent, with most companies struggling to keep production levels of existing brand lines.
The scarcity problem the country is facing has forced manufacturers to turn to returnable packaging.
