Quarterly Beverage Tracker Second Quarter 2015: Switzerland

Quarterly Beverage Tracker Second Quarter 2015: Switzerland

Summary

Switzerland remained in a state of deflation throughout the latest quarter. GDP expanded by just over 1% but was slightly down on the previous quarter. The recovery of brands is expected, though not at a huge loss to PL products. Imports have become more attractive, due to the strong Suisse franc.

Key Findings

Unfavorable weather conditions impacted on soft drink sales, which were down 1% for the quarter, largely on account of the volume loss suffered by carbonates and packaged water

The most positive performance came from iced/rtd coffee drinks

Beer’s growth helped prevent combined ACB categories from suffering the same fate as soft drinks. Total volumes remained stable
