Zimbabwe Tourism Q3 2018
The Zimbabwean tourism industry is entering a period of high potential following the removal of President RobertMugabe in late 2017. The country experienced strong growth in arrivals over 2017, which was not derailed by the coup inNovember which resulted in Emmerson Mnangagwa assuming the presidency. Mnangagwa's openness to economic reforms offersthe tourism sector the opportunity for recovery from the mismanagement of the last two decades. Improvements to the businessenvironment would attract significant investment, while greater economic and political stability will improve the country'sattractiveness to visitors, collectively providing a significant boost to the sector, and in turn to the economy. However, trueimprovements will take a number of years to fully materialise.
