Zambia Food & Drink Q4 2020
We forecast food and non-alcoholic drinks spending to be shielded from the negative impact of Covid-19 (coronavirus)on consumer spending in 2020, as consumer purchasing patterns shift towards essentials. Alcoholic drinks spending andconsumption will be negatively impacted due to restrictions on alcoholic drinks trade in 2020 and consumers increasing their focuson priority purchases. Over the medium term (2020-2024), we have a positive outlook for Zambia's food and drink sector withalcoholic drinks spending and consumption projected to begin to recovering from 2021 as economic activity gradually increases.
