Uruguay Renewables Q2 2019
A lack of demand for new renewable energy projects in Uruguay underpins our relatively downbeat forecasts forUruguay’s renewables sector. This is due to low electricity consumption in the country and the resultant reluctance of thegovernment to tender more capacity. The electrification of the transport sector presents an upside risk to this view. We forecastnon-hydro renewables capacity to increase from just under 2.2GW in 2018 to 2.8GW in 2028.
