United Kingdom Telecommunications Q1 2018

BMI View: The UK market continues to move along operationally, with the main issues being regulatory.

The decisions to allow the deal between BT and EE, but not the one between 3 and O2, has created deep imbalances in the market, with BT a clear dominant player. Fixed-line voice figures have remained unchanged since 2014 and are expected to remain to similar levels until the end of our forecast period. By contrast, the broadband user base will increase at a rate of 3.1% per annum over the five years to 2021.
