United Arab Emirates Telecommunications Q4 2019

United Arab Emirates Telecommunications Q4 2019

Key View:

As the UAE mobile voice market is reaching saturation levels, operators are shedding inactive SIMs and focusing onmigrating existing subscribers into more lucrative subscriptions by investing into advanced mobile broadband and offering exclusiveVAS. As such, we still have a positive view of the UAE mobile market due to the strong competition between Etisalat and du, highdisposable incomes and a strong influx of migrants. We expect continued 4G and 4.5G/LTE-Advanced growth to be importantmarket drivers, further propelled by price cuts and advances in value-added services and offered content. The launch of 5G in themiddle of 2019 will be accompanied by investments in new technologies, including devices, and advanced services. We expect theservice to spur growth in the M2M market. In the fixed sector, operators have also invested in expanding FTTH coverage across thecountry, but we believe high-speed mobile broadband will be the preferred technology. Operators are further offsetting thesaturation of the mobile market by focusing on expanding their offerings to the enterprise sector.
