United Arab Emirates Renewables Q4 2019
We expect non-hydropower renewables capacity in the UAE to surge over the coming decade, from 596MW as of theend of 2018 to more than 10GW by 2028. This rapid growth will be almost exclusively driven by the country's solar sector, withAbu Dhabi and Dubai launching a number of big-ticket projects in line with their strategies to diversify their power sectors over thecoming decades. While this will take the share of non-hydro renewables from less than 1% of power generation over 2018 to almost11% by 2028, we stress that the Barakah nuclear facility will remain the biggest driver of power supply growth in the market over our10-year forecast period.
