BMI View: In 9M17, Ukraine's chemicals output rose 8.4% y-o-y with strengthening production activity following the resumption of activity at Karpatneftekhim's petrochemical complex in June 2017. The complex has also helped boost plastic production which grew 11.8% y-o-y over the period. However, other segments have stagnated. While rubber production grew 5.4% y-o-y over the period, but from May 2017 it saw several months of contraction, apart from June. At the same time, the domestic market remains well below par, with sluggish household consumption growth, historically low levels of manufacturing activity and a national economy torn in half due to the loss of Crimea and the two-breakaway republics in the east.
