Vietnam Freight Transport and Shipping Q3 2019
Vietnam is beginning to reap the benefits of the fallout from the US-China trade war as numerous Chinese companiesare moving their operations to Vietnam to avoid further problems related to fears over tariffs on exports to the US, while Vietnamhad also been attracting investment even prior to US sanctions on certain Chinese goods. The knock-on effect of this is that thefreight industry in Vietnam will benefit from increased trade inflows over the short term at least with the country’s ports set to bebusy with the additional exports, which will also provide impetus for the road and rail freight sectors. We forecast healthy growthrates across all freight modes over our medium-term forecast period (2019-2023), on the back of continued strong growth in theexport-oriented manufacturing sector, underpinned by liberal trade policies, positive demographics, and upskilling of Vietnam'slabour force.
