Uganda Power Report Q2 2018

BMI View:

Electricity generation in Uganda will grow at an annual average rate of 7.8% y-o-y over our 10-year forecast period, mostly as a result of the Isimba and Karuma hydropower projects coming online by 2020. Although the high reliance onhydropower will increase the country's vulnerability to drought-induced deficits, the new hydroelectric plants will boost thecountry's overall baseload capacity. Development of regional interconnections will lead to improved power supply stability.
