Turkey Tourism Q1 2018

Turkey Tourism Q1 2018

BMI View: The outlook for Turkey's tourism industry has improved significantly over the course of 2017.

The resurrection of relations with Russia means arrivals from this key source market have recovered well from the sharp fall recorded in 2017, and Turkey is also successfully attracting more visitors from affluent markets in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. The return of large numbers of visitors is boosting spending in the market and is an encouraging sign for the hotel and accommodation sector. We note, however, that downside risks remain in the form of domestic and regional security concerns.
