Turkey Freight Transport and Shipping Q4 2019
The Turkish economy continues to face a recessionary environment over H2 2019, as currency weakness and stronginflationary pressures weigh on national economic activity. The poor headline environment will curb trade momentum, and allfreight modes will feel the slowdown. That said, we at Fitch Solutions expect headwinds to subside from 2020 onwards as real GDPreturns to positive territory, and trade and freight levels begin to trend favourably. We also point to the fact that high-profileinvestment projects, including railways, roads, bridges and airports, will support bulk freight momentum to 2023. Possible negativerisks to our outlook stem from the lingering recession and ongoing diplomatic tensions between Ankara and Washington.
