Our outlook for the Turkish consumer remains negative over the short-to-medium term. We forecast that the Turkisheconomy will enter recession in 2019, with consumers facing a wave of challenges: a weak lira driving up the price of consumables,falling employment and high interest rates raising household borrowing costs. The downward slide for both retail sales andconsumer confidence that began in mid-2018 will continue into H219.
