Growth in tourism receipts will outpace growth in arrivals as visitors spend more inthe country and luxury travel options become more prominent. Long-haul arrivals will be boosted byeconomic and security issues in neighbouring countries, prompting visitors to choose Tanzania for holidaysover rivals such as Kenya. Major destinations already have well established tourism industries, butpotential exists for tapping into new locations and investing in existing attractions. The hotel industry willremain underdeveloped, though global chains are increasing their footprint, while travel infrastructureinvestments will flow in, though in most cases projects will outlast the five-year forecast period to 2021.
