Tanzania Power Q1 2020

Tanzania Power Q1 2020

Key View:

Tanzania's power sector growth will remain sluggish over our 10-year forecast period. Government's financialcommitment to the construction of the Nyerere Hydroelectric Project will weigh on its impetus to invest in other large-scaleprojects. As a result, we expect that private sector investment will drive growth in the industry after the completion of the RusumoFalls and Kikagati hydropower projects, the majority of which will be directed into new non-hydropower renewable capacity.Ongoing investment into new regional power interconnections will facilitate growing electricity imports during this time, as powerconsumption growth outpaces that of domestic generation through to 2028.
