BMI View: Over our five-year outlook to 2021, Tanzania's consumer outlook will uphold sustainablegrowth despite slight slowdown in 2017. Income levels will increase over 2017-2021 to support the growthof consumer purchasing power. We caution the weakening of economic growth and business environment asa key downside risk to growth in Tanzania's consumer outlook.
Tanzania's economic growth will slow in 2017 stemming from the mineral export ban and weaker privatesector activity (see 'Weaker Business Environment Will See Growth Slow', August 25 2017). Despite aslowdown in economic growth, we remain optimistic on the consumer outlook over the medium term to2021.
