Tanzania Consumer & Retail Report Q2 2018
We expect that a good agricultural harvest will boost household spending power in the coming quarters, while increasedfood supply will ease inflationary pressures in the food sector. As a result, we expect growth in real private consumption to pick up to7% in 2018, up from 5% registered in 2017. However, overall incomes will remain low - even by Sub-Saharan African standards -while the vulnerable employment situation suggests cautious and fragile spending prospects in the near future.
