Taiwan Tourism Q2 2018
We have made a series of negative revisions to the latest Q2 2018 Taiwanese tourism outlook owing to a massivereduction in visitors from mainland China over the course of 2017. However, the short- and medium-term outlook for the industryremains positive with significant organic growth potential still untapped. A confluence of drivers will support growth in the tourismindustry including a combination of policies such as farming new source markets, developing improved bilateral tourism relationsand innovative marketing among a diversifying set of potential tourists. Rising regional demand for air travel is also slated to rise intandem with growing spending powers and this will provide further upside risks to our forecast. The primary downside risk to ourforecast comes from the ongoing diplomatic tensions with mainland China, a phenomenon that has significantly hurt visitornumbers in 2017.
