South Korea Information Technology Q1 2020
The core scenario is for South Korean IT spending to be driven higher over the medium-term by enterprise demand forsoftware and services solutions that offer improvements in productivity, operational flexibility and/or enable expansion into newproducts. In a highly competitive region, and with China aiming to move itself up the value chain, there will be a strong incentive forSouth Korean firms to invest in IT solutions that help them deal with the threat, such as cloud and edge computing enabled servicesin combination with data analytics tools that enhance manufacturing operations and introduce new capabilities. The principaldownside risk is that the evolution of regional supply chain relationships became disorderly, which would impact both South Koreaneconomic and IT investment outlook, and have sector specific risks for the important local IT industry.
