A strengthening rand and its dampening effects on inflation, combined with lower borrowing costs, will help drive growthof 3.1% in new vehicle sales in South Africa in 2018, reaching a total of around 574,000 units. That being said, the increase in ValueAdded Tax, vehicle emissions tax, ad valorem duty and fuel levy from April 1 2018 will pose headwinds to further growth in thedomestic autos market.
