Singapore Infrastructure Report Q4 2017

Singapore Infrastructure Report Q4 2017

BMI View: Growth in Singapore's infrastructure sector will likely be heavily weighed down by a weakprivate residential construction sector over the coming quarters, despite a strong pipeline of publicprojects, particularly in the transportation segment.

Forecast And Latest Updates

Singapore's infrastructure sector is supported by a comprehensive ecosystem, a favourable business andstable political environment, and a healthy pipeline of development work, despite being a relativelymature market.

Singapore's transport infrastructure will continue to benefit from a strong pipeline of projects, particularlyin the railways and airport segments, and we maintain our optimistic outlook on the segment's expansionover the coming years.

The construction of Singapore's fourth desalination plant in Keppel Marina East began on June 29, and itis expected to be completed in January 2020. The plant will be able to treat either salty water from the seaor freshwater from Marina Reservoir, and save energy during wet weather when there is abundant waterin the latter. The plant will be built and operated by Keppel Infrastructure Holdings under the Design,Build, Own and Operate model and will produce 30 million gallons a day of drinking water.
