BMI View: Singapore will remain an attractive defence market throughout our forecast period to 2026, asregional tensions, transnational terrorism, cyberthreats and maritime piracy continue to drive militaryspending by the city-state. While the number of Singaporean military personnel is set to decline, spendingon training, activities and equipment is likely to rise as the authorities work to strengthen the SAF'scapabilities and provide the force with a qualitative edge over potential enemies. Singapore's defence tradebalance will remain in deficit for the foreseeable future - though this will narrow gradually over the longterm as local manufacturers develop production capabilities and thus become increasingly capable ofcapturing both local and international procurement contracts.
