Saudi Arabia Tourism Report Q2 2015

Saudi Arabia Tourism Report Q2 2015

BMI View: Saudi Arabia has the single largest tourism industry in the Middle East and North Africa, with more than 16.4mn inbound arrivals forecast in 2015. As economic conditions in the country's key source markets continue to improve, we expect strong growth over the next few years, and a good level of infrastructure investment from both the government and large international hotel groups. However, issues to be dealt with include instability and the threat of terrorism, the low cost of oil and a highly restrictive approach to non-religious tourists, and all of these factors limit the tourism industry's potential. Saudia Arabia is well placed to enjoy strong tourism growth, with an expected increase of 29.0% in inbound arrivals between 2015 and 2019. This is being driven by improving economic conditions in key source markets; Jordanian and Qatari arrivals are set to rise by 65.0% and 75.1% respectively over our forecast period as a result of increasing economic prosperity and strengthening business ties with Saudi Arabia.
