The short-term outlook for Russia's tourism industry has improved and, after a poor result in 2017, the market isexpected to record solid growth in 2018, supported by ongoing investment in new transport infrastructure and the gradualreduction in visa restrictions. While investors are likely to be attracted by the huge size of the domestic market and the expectedincrease in international arrivals, Russia nonetheless remains a challenging destination for developers. Barriers to foreign developersare high and in the key established tourism destinations (Moscow and St. Petersburg), high real estate costs and existingcompetition could deter investors.
