Russia Renewables Q1 2019
Non-hydropower renewables make a very limited contribution to the domestic energy mix in Russia. Biomass is theleading renewables segment and accounts for just 0.3% of total electricity generated in the country, while geothermal, solar andwind power currently make even more limited contributions, leaving Russia heavily reliant on conventional energy sources (thermal, nuclear and hydropower). Government support for the development of new renewables capacity is limited, though we are seeing aslight uptick in activity following renewable energy auctions which attracted both domestic and foreign investors.
