Qatar Tourism Q4 2020
The short-term outlook for Qatar's tourism market is very poor due to the impact of Covid-19 on the global tourismindustry. For now, we see international arrivals to Qatar plummet by 70% y-o-y in 2020. Our revised scenario forecasts modest pent-up demand to be unlocked from 2021 onwards. Out to 2024 and beyond, a host of drivers will underpin tourism industry growth, including a robust infrastructure pipeline and broad government support for the long-term development of tourism as part of theeconomic diversification agenda. Over the medium term, prospects will also be buoyed by the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023World Aquatics Championship. We note that risks are heavily weighed to the downside as low oil prices, regional geopoliticalchallenges and the risk of a second wave of coronavirus infections all pose serious threats to market recovery.
