Qatar Petrochemicals Report Q2 2018
The embargo imposed on Qatar in an alliance led by the UAE and Saudi Arabia has not had the major impact we had expected onthe country's petrochemicals exports. With some transhipments now routed via Oman - which now accounts for over 25% of Qatarinon-oil exports - instead of Dubai and gas continuing to flow out of the country, the embargo has not severely affected the industry.Indeed, in August Qatar's the value of non-oil exports grew 35% over July and recovered to pre-embargo norms, although this doesnot take account of the impact of market price changes. While the industry has proven to be resilient, it still faces considerabledownside risks to growth.
