Poland Power Q2 2020
Wind and solar power projects will make up over 80% of new capacity coming online in Poland over our 10-year forecastperiod to 2029, driven by regulatory easing and improving cost-competitiveness in the market. However, coal-fired power willremain the dominant electricity generator in the country, supported by ongoing investment into the maintenance andmodernisation of its current coal power plants. While the possibility of private sector investment in the PGE EJ1 project poses anupside risk to our bearish outlook on the prospect of Poland bringing online its first nuclear power plant, we expect challenges infunding and financing the project will prevent its completion within the next decade.
