Backed by a strong economy and a growing middle class, Poland's insurance market carries significant long-term growthpotential. While life insurance products have so far failed to capture the attention of the majority of Polish households, as incomesstart to grow, the low level of penetration offers significant scope for new sales and for product innovation. The non-life sector willcontinue to be driven by robust demand for motor vehicle covers as car ownership expands at a brisk pace. A thriving real estatesector will likewise support demand for property lines, while we see vast potential in the small but fast-emerging health insurancesegment. The strong leadership position of local composite PZU is unlikely to dent the enthusiasm of overseas investors, with thelikes of UK insurer Aviva among those reportedly planning to increase its exposure to the Polish market through local acquisitions.
