Philippines Tourism Report Q2 2016
BMI View: Tourism is seen as an important part of the Philippines' economic future, and has beenacknowledged as a sector of importance by the country's government. Endowed with world class divingsites, luxury beach resorts, and cosmopolitan cities, the country has achieved high levels of growth ininbound arrivals over the last five years. Further liberalisation of the airline industry and a move toimprove infrastructure and the quality of the hotel base should see significant amounts of growth over theforecast period. However, the country still has issues with terrorist activity and crime, which may detersome travellers and an election in 2016 has increased uncertainty over the economic direction of thecountry. Overall, the ingredients for a strong tourism industry are there, but there remains a lot still to do.
