Food and non-alcoholic drinks spending growth will accelerate in 2020 as consumers increase their focus on groceryproducts amid growing levels of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Alcoholic drinks spending andconsumption is projected to contract in 2020, the consumption of alcoholic drinks products is prohibited in Oman which is aMuslim country and the sector is dependent on tourists who consume these products in the few hotels and restaurants that arepermitted to serve them. Our medium term outlook (2020-2024) for Oman's food and drink sector is positive with spending beingsupported a gradual recovery in economic activity.
