Oman Food & Drink Q1 2020

Key View:

Our outlook for food and drink spending growth in Oman is positive over the medium term. We forecast food spendingto grow at a faster rate than non-alcoholic drinks spending over 2019-2023. In 2020 we forecast a recovery in spending oncarbonated drinks following the introduction of the 'sin tax' in 2019. Alcoholic drinks consumption will remain limited due to thecountry having a predominantly Muslim population that does not consume alcohol. As a result alcoholic drinks consumption inOman will be driven by expatriates and tourists. The high disposable incomes of consumers in Oman presents opportunities forpremiumisation over the medium term.
