Similar to most Nordic region markets, the insurance industry in Norway is dynamic and competitive and boasts highrates of coverage in the life and non-life sectors. Despite the maturity of the market, there is room for further growth. Employmentand income rates are rising, and though the consumer base is relatively small, there are still gaps in coverage indicating carrierscould achieve growth by reaching new first-time users. Product innovation offers another avenue for growth, particularly incompetitive lines such as property and motor insurance where value-added products are proving more popular. The mainbeneficiaries of growth will be entrenched domestic and regional providers, with very little room for new entrants.
