The insurance market in Norway, similar to others in the Nordic region, is very well developed, with a strong focus on lifeinsurance. High average income levels mean that the vast majority of households can afford cover and consumers are well cateredfor by providers via a broad range of products and extensive distribution channels. There is very little space for new entrants in thismature market due to the dominance of domestic and regional carriers, though the market is open to foreign investors and someniche providers could gain small shares of the non-life market by diversifying from the entrenched players.
