Given the mature nature of the food and drink sectors in the Nordics, we expect growth and product development overour forecast period to be driven by three principal trends, namely premiumisation, convenience and health consciousness. Themass grocery retail sector is increasingly saturated which, combined with the strong presence of discounters such as Lidl and Netto,will place a cap on growth in food spending through to 2023 due to growing price competition. Norway is a slight exception to thisas rising tax rates, particularly on alcohol and sugary products, helps maintain high levels of per capita spending. Many Nordic foodand drink companies are focusing expansion overseas, looking to export opportunities, particularly in Asia.
