BMI View: The food and drinks retail sectors across the Nordic states are well developed and in someareas are nearing saturation. Each of the Nordic states boasts high average disposable income levels aswell as brand aware and health conscious consumers which make for a highly competitive mass groceryretail segments. The maturity of the market, where per capita food and drink sales are already high, meansthat growth will remain in the low single digits for much of the market though some sectors such aspremium, organic and health food products could record more rapid growth.

The Nordic states all offer attractive, transparent investment environments, though they do vary in size.Sweden is the largest consumer market in terms of the total volume of food sales (and will also record thestrongest growth in 2017, with food sales rising by 5.1% in local currency terms), followed by Norway(3.1% growth), Finland (2.8% growth) then Denmark (2.7% growth).
