Despite an improving economic outlook, Nigerian consumers will face a tough 2019 on the back of high inflation.However, because food and drink is considered an essential item, we forecast solid growth in both categories. Both the bread, riceand cereals and the meat and poultry subcategories will drive growth and will see their share of spending increase over the mediumterm. While in the drinks category, spending on beer will drive growth in the alcoholic drinks sector, and spending on carbonateddrinks will drive growth in the non-alcoholic drinks sector.
