Namibia Tourism Report Q2 2018
Namibia's tourism sector is set for robust growth over 2018 and beyond, continuing a trend of arrivals growth from thepast decade, though the sector will remain small on a global comparison. Arrivals from Africa will remain dominant, dampening thepotential to increase the value of receipts, although Europe will increase its share as a source market, resulting in receipts narrowlyoutperforming arrivals in growth terms. The country boasts relatively strong flight connections into Windhoek's international airportand benefits from proximity to South Africa and its plethora of long-haul flight routes, although further diversification of theseconnections is a key goal to expand arrivals from high-potential source markets in Asia. Meanwhile, government moves to relax visarestrictions, encourage hotel investment and promote ecotourism and sustainability will be key to expanding the industry throughto 2022.
