BMI View: Mozambique's construction sector will experience moderate but stable growth throughout our10-year forecast period to 2025, buoyed by developments in coal export infrastructure, the addition ofhydropower plants to the electricity mix and the burgeoning gas sector. As depressed commodity pricesweigh on industry expansion, the government will continue its efforts to attract further foreign investment tofund key projects.

Forecast & Industry Developments

Mozambique's construction industry will expand throughout our full forecast period to 2025, recording4.9% real growth in 2016, averaging 5.9% over the next five years and 6.3% over 10 years.

Coal export infrastructure and the addition of hydropower to the ailing power supply will be the maindrivers of growth over the first half of our forecast period. The nascent gas sector is expected to impactindustry growth from 2020, currently weighed down by low commodity prices.
