BMI View: We have a highly positive outlook for Malaysia's tourism industry. Awareness of the country'smany attractions is improving and international transport connections are expanding, making Malaysiamuch more accessible to potential visitors. As visitor numbers increase over the forecast period we expectto see greater investment in the hotel and accommodation sector, where the mid-range and high end sectorsare attracting considerable interest, particularly in up and coming tourism regions where real estateopportunities are plentiful.

Key Updates And Forecasts

Malaysia's tourism industry looks set to receive a boost having been named Asia's Leading Destination atthe 2015 World Travel Awards (Asia and Australia). 2015, with the country named Asia's LeadingDestination and Tourism Malaysia rewarded as the Leading Tourist Board in the region.

The country is introducing online visa applications for seven major inbound tourism markets; from early2016 visitors from China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the United States and Canada will beeligible for e-Visa applications.
