BMI View: Revenue growth in Malaysia's mobile market will be increasingly driven by content andservices for as it is saturated and the three dominant mobile operators are facing increased price-ledcompetition from the entrance of alternative 4G licensees into the market. In the wireline market, newentrant ViewQwest's disruptively-priced fibre broadband service will have a limited impact on Malaysia'sfixed broadband market due to its limited scale. However, the emergence of low-cost rivals could compelincumbent Telekom Malaysia to reduce its prices, boosting uptake of broadband, and consequently, IT andother digital content services.

Mobile subscriptions reached 43.9mn in December 2016, after contracting in June 2016. The big threefirms have lost some share to alternative players, counting a combined 33.8mn subscribers in Q117,down from 34.8mn in Q416. U Mobile introduced competitive packages, but are unlikely to relinquishmarket dominance over our forecast period.
