BMI holds an optimistic outlook for Malaysia’s food and drink industry throughout 2018. Improving household incomescombined with healthy macroeconomic conditions will help to support growth rates in food and drink spending. We forecast growthin the food sector to average 8.5%. While consumption of alcoholic beverages will remain relatively limited, spending levels will seerobust growth throughout our forecast period with a CAGR of 7.8%. Premiumisation will become increasingly prevalent in manysectors as the growing middle class drives demand for healthier and more expensive products.
