Lebanon Insurance Q1 2019
Our forecasts remain largely unchanged this quarter, beyond a few positive tweaks to our renewables outlook, in view ofstronger historic data for solar and brightening prospects for this segment. We have not further revised down our forecasts forhydropower, having eliminated the capacity contributed by the collapsed Xe Pian Xe Namnoy last quarter. Laos’ quest to be becomethe 'battery of South East Asia' is therefore unlikely to be significantly dimmed, relative to our earlier expectations. Our forecasttrajectory for hydroelectric power was already conservative compared to the planned pipeline - we had long expected less than athird of the capacity implied by proposed projects to come to fruition over the next 10 years - and we do not expect theinvestigation into the July collapse of Xe Pian Xe Namnoy to result in major ongoing projects being shelved or significantly delayed. However, if the outcome of this investigation does result in such moves, we will revise down our forecasts accordingly.
