Kuwait Telecommunications Q4 2019
Key View :
Positive mobile subscriber growth was seen for the third consecutive quarter in Kuwait in Q219, driven by theintroduction of new premium and mid-range smartphones as well as revamped pricing for key voice and data plans. A further upliftseems likely following the launch of 5G services in June/July, though the limited range of 5G-ready devices will keep uptake rates lowto begin with. As 5G has considerable potential in the non-consumer smartphone space, we believe its full potential will be unlockedif the state can liberalise the wireline infrastructure market. The ability to deploy fibre would be a boon to the mobile operators andtheir enterprise customers, although this is a field that tower operators could exploit; IHS Towers' forthcoming arrival in the marketcould kick-start investment in this area.
