Japan's food and drink sector is mature and because of the country's ageing and declining population opportunities willremain muted for food and drink majors over our medium-term forecast to 2022. Premiumisation opportunities, however, willcontinue to grow due to high per capita spend on food and drink and consumers spending more on higher quality food and drinkitems. We note that product innovation in the Japanese market will also bode well for spending over our five-year outlook.
