The consumer outlook will slow to sluggish trend levels over the next few years as consumption levels drop each from2017. While there are some notable short-term improvements in the market, including growth in real wages, rising employment, taxcuts and lower levels of political risk, the longer-term impacts denote potential challenges. In particular, labour improvements areincreasingly made up of part-time, contract workers, a worsening of business confidence and widening budget deficits couldeventually come back to hurt the economy.
